What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign® system uses a series of clear aligners to move misaligned, crooked teeth into a desirable position in as little as six months.

Invisalign works without the need for brackets or wires, which can cause friction against the soft tissues in your mouth. You wear each tray for about two weeks at 22 hours a day. You don’t need to wear the aligners while drinking, eating, flossing, or brushing your teeth.

What is the Invisalign process?

After your dentist determines the best treatment plan for a patient, impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to Invisalign, where they use advanced 3D computer imaging technology and create custom aligner trays. 

Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks and then swapped out with the next set in the series. The series of sets continue until your teeth and aligners reach their final destination. As directed by your dentist, switch to the next set of aligners in the Invisalign series.

Keep your plastic aligners clean using an Invisalign cleaning system, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. Rinse your aligners in warm water but avoid placing them in hot water. Call the Creative Dental of Syosset office if your aligners get lost or damaged.

How long should I wear my Invisalign aligners?

Depending on your needs, your Invisalign treatment may take 6-18 months or longer. Dr. Mozner lets you know when you’ve completed treatment and often recommends wearing a retainer to keep your teeth in their new alignment.
